Dec st. My birthday as well as many other birthday parties were going on at the same time. The property was packed, Reservations I'd say are a must! Unless you enjoy waiting. We were seated on time, and our server was fast polite, engaging, and knew the menu well. The food was just okay. It's not great and, in my opinion, not worth the price which by the way is NOT CHEAP. We are from South Padre Island and come up to the Lee's Summit/KC annually this time of year.. Unfortunately, this establishment is a one and done..Plotted. Scouts Out..

Good place to start the night-out with happy hour specials.I had their Shrimp Taco (spicy), their Spicy Tuna Roll, their Potstickers, and sliders. everything felt fresh and enjoyable.Service could have been quicker for a Happy Hour and "tapas-like" food, but would definitely return.

Kona Grill always has incredible service when making a reservation and a open concept atmosphere where you can see the kitchen quite well and a multitude of menu options. We visited Kona for KC’s Restaurant Week which participated in a $ course dinner. The courses were savory and well portioned. While definetly on a pricier side, it was definetly worth it for the treatment and the quick service that should be definetly be considered on visiting KC.

PROS: Sushi rollCONS: Lemon chicken, Loud cars, unprofessional staff, price tag.My wife and I visited this location late one night after returning to our Airbnb after a wedding. When we arrived at The establishment we noticed that it was not very busy and most of the patrons were sitting at the bar. I stepped inside and told the hostess that me and my wife would be sitting outside to which he replied “we will be out in a second”.We sat outside for approximately minutes before anybody came outside to address us. This was already a red flag for us because the establishment was not at full capacity and there were multiple staff members at the front desk when we arrived. Once we got served we realized that the food was lacking in several areas.I usually rate the food based on these three criteria's: Flavor, presentation, and cost. It is very apparent that most restaurants nowadays use pre frozen chicken or pre-grilled chicken. My lemon garlic chicken cost me $ and I probably would have put it at a $ price tag. It is very apparent that Kona Grill has been successful at the Bait and switch strategy. My wife did like her sushi roll which was the only plus going for the restaurant that night. Being a resident of Kansas City for more than years I have experienced a lot of memorable moments but this is not one of those experiences.I honestly will not go back to this restaurant based on the lack of professionalism and quality of the visit. What gets me the most is that restaurants like Kona Grill that exist in wealthy upscale neighborhoods like the Kansas City Plaza want to pass off Applebee's quality pasta dishes at a $ price tag.
